Our lead program has completed multiple Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials.  We launched our Phase 2b clinical trial in Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) in 2023 and our Phase 2 clinical trial in cardiovascular disease in Q2 2024. General Responsibilities:

The Senior Associate, Strategic Initiatives reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and supports the CEO and other members of the executive team with strategic initiatives, investment evaluations, and business planning activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the senior leadership team and others throughout the organization while contributing to high-impact projects that will shape the future of Tourmaline.

Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Strategy Development:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of corporate strategies and business plans.
    • Conduct in-depth analyses of market trends, competitive landscapes, and technological advancements.
    • Conduct comprehensive pipeline strategy assessments to inform clinical trial protocols, differentiation strategies, indication prioritization, potential combination opportunities, and new program initiation.
    • Monitor and report on the progress of strategic initiatives and key performance metrics.
  • Market Research:
    • Conduct market opportunity analysis for new innovation projects, evaluating technology fit, business potential, and alignment with corporate strategy.
    • Synthesize research findings into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Executive Support:
    • Provide direct support to the CEO and other executive team members on strategic projects and initiatives.
    • Prepare presentations, reports, and briefing materials for board meetings, investor presentations, and internal strategy sessions.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and manage strategic projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company objectives.
    • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to drive project execution and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Due Diligence:
    • Provide support to due diligence processes for potential investments, including assessing scientific data, market potential, and financial health of target companies.
  • Other Strategic Initiative:
    • Support other corporate strategic initiatives, as needed and at the direction of the CEO.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

Experience and Attributes:

  • Minimum two years of experience in strategic finance, investment banking, management consulting, or investing in biotechnology and drug development
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with financial modeling is a plus
  • Core business operations skills, including: building presentation materials, project management, and ability to develop structured approaches/methodologies to business problems
  • Willingness to work hard in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks from multiple parties and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • A good team player with solid record of collaboration within and across functional areas
  • Regular presence (i.e., minimum three days a week) working from Tourmaline office in New York, NY is required
